Job DescriptionAramark Facilities Management is hiring a Journeyman Plumber to support operations at the General Motors Global Technical Center – a large, non‑manufacturing campus listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This role is ideal for a skilled trades professional with strong commercial/industrial plumbing and steam system experience who thrives in a dynamic facilities environment.
UAW Journeyperson Requirements- Department of Labor Certificate of Completion of a bona fide 4‑year/8,000‑hour apprenticeship program.
- Or, if not, must have 8 years of verifiable experience. If that experience is from a UAW facility, a letter on company letterhead stating the dates of service and classification/s of work performed is required and must be signed by a company representative and a local union bargaining chair or steward. If the experience is not at a UAW facility, the letter must be on company letterhead, signed by the company representative, and notarized.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing and piping systems in a large‑scale industrial facility.
- Work with water, drainage, steam, heating, cooling, and industrial process piping systems.
- Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Test piping systems for leaks and proper operation.
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, water heaters, and related equipment.
- Perform routine plumbing and pipe fitting work independently.
- Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work.
- Support fabrication shop and service departments as needed.
- Work safely at heights and in confined spaces when required.
- Mentor apprentices and support team members.
- Follow all Aramark and GM Technical Center safety and housekeeping standards.
- Active State of Michigan Journeyman Plumber license or Journeyman card.
- 7+ years of commercial or industrial plumbing experience.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a skilled trades team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical trade work.
- Physical demands may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing; uniforms and/or PPE may be required.
