The Ironworker performs structural steel erection, installation, and related field work on assigned construction projects. This position works with the field team to install steel components accurately, follow project plans and specifications, and support the successful completion of work in accordance with company standards and safety expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Erect, install, connect, and align structural steel components in accordance with project plans, specifications, and field direction.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, layout information, and work instructions.
- Unload, move, stage, and position steel materials, components, tools, and equipment on the job site.
- Bolt, weld, fasten, or otherwise secure steel members and related materials as required for the assigned work.
- Operate and use hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, lifts, and other job-related equipment appropriately.
- Assist with rigging, signaling, hoisting, and placement of steel components in coordination with crane operators and other field personnel.
- Inspect materials, connections, and completed work for accuracy, alignment, quality, and conformance with project requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Communicate effectively with foremen, superintendents, coworkers, and other trades to support efficient and timely completion of work.
- Knowledge of structural steel erection, installation, connection, and alignment practices.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, lifts, and other job-related equipment.
- Understanding of construction site safety practices, including fall protection and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Ability to follow measurements, specifications, layout information, and field instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of completed work.
- Ability to assist with rigging, signaling, hoisting, and placement of steel components.
- Ability to communicate effectively with foremen, superintendents, coworkers, and other trades.
- Ability to adapt to changing job conditions, priorities, and instructions.
This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding work on active construction sites, including frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working position requires regular lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, moving, and positioning of materials, tools, and equipment. Work may be performed outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
