Job Overview

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic maintains repairs and modifications of aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, including the repair and maintenance of flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The role involves daily flight line and hangar maintenance, inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and maintaining aircraft logs. Occasional team leadership on complex tasks and travel in support of the customer’s mission may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation.
  • Interpret technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to solve moderate to complex problems.
  • Perform daily, flight line, and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft.
  • Conduct inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
  • Maintain aircraft logs and records, making entries as required.
  • Prioritize workload schedules on assigned projects and meet required deadlines.
  • Travel periodically in support of the customer’s mission.
Minimum Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current airframe and power plant mechanic (A&P) certificate.
  • Competence in repair and maintenance of airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems, and aircraft engines.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.
  • Working knowledge of military and general aviation aircraft airframe and engine logbooks.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft-specific tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications.
  • Ability to follow base, federal, and company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Proficiency in office software applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Strong English language communication skills (read, write, speak).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full-time aircraft mechanic employment within the past twelve (12) months.
  • 3–5 years of experience working full-time as an aircraft mechanic.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment
  • Ability to perform aircraft mechanic duties, including moving freely in the aircraft interior and aft of the aft pressure bulkhead.
  • Capacity to stand, squat, sit, walk, and work with arms overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may require ear protection due to high noise hazards.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $45.94
