Job Summary
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks on construction sites, including building, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, strong math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials, including frameworks, walls, floors, and trim.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and measurements.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials with precision and accuracy.
- Prepare and clean work areas, including setting up and taking down scaffolding and ladders.
- Follow safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use and maintain hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Install and finish doors, windows, cabinets, and other fixtures according to project specifications.
- Apply finishes, such as stains, paints, and varnishes, to enhance the appearance and durability of wood surfaces.
- Perform adjustments and modifications to existing structures to meet design requirements.
- Inspect and assess the quality of work, ensuring that it meets company standards and project specifications.
- Identify and address any issues or defects in carpentry work and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and project managers to resolve any construction-related challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects.
- Report progress and any issues or delays to the project manager or supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with project schedules and deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or certification in carpentry is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Carpenter, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment, including saws, drills, and measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building codes.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on precision and quality.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to carpentry and construction work.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and working at heights.
