John Grace Restoration and Construction has been West Michigan’s choice for emergency services and restoration repairs following property damage for 10+ years. We help homeowners recover from storm, mold, fire/smoke, water, and flooding damage. Our staff are experts in the insurance claim process, guiding clients through the claim process to ensure timely and high-quality repair work. Purpose of the Lead Carpenter Role:
As a Lead Carpenter you take ownership of restoring homes for the communities we serve, delivering excellent craftsmanship and clear communication to help restore lives.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of construction and job site safety.
  • Perform framing, trim/cabinets/doors, windows, exterior finishes, and finished carpentry; strong emphasis on framing and finished carpentry.
  • Work on job sites daily and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Drive the company vehicle to job sites and follow all traffic laws.
  • Communicate technical knowledge and expectations clearly to homeowners who may be unfamiliar with construction terminology and processes.
  • Communicate with Project Manager daily to ensure projects are on track.
  • Oversee 2-4 staff, ensuring high-quality work and setting clear expectations.
  • Develop carpenters and other team members.
  • Typical work week is 40-45 hours, with potential to exceed 50 hours during busy times.
Qualifications
  • 6-8+ years of verifiable construction experience.
  • 2-3 years of team leadership in a construction environment.
  • Ability to operate in a high-stress, changing environment.
  • Excellent time management, delegation, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and receive feedback to grow and learn.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Criminal background check required to perform work on insurance-related claims.
  • Basic knowledge of smartphone and email technology.
