Installation Technician, Field/Service Technician
What's the role?
The Project Technician is responsible for leading, troubleshooting, and resolving on‑site issues with CMM project system installations. The Project Technician is the front‑line face to the customer during the commissioning of automated measurement equipment.
Here's what you'll do- Installations:
- Represent ZEISS as onsite lead during installation of all Project related content
- Install, troubleshoot, and run off ZEISS CMM automated loading systems
- Direct and support end user skilled trades teams during the installation of ZEISS CMM enclosure and automated measurement systems
- Oversee ZEISS equipment as it moves through the PRO TAG process
- Program and troubleshoot safety systems and electrical systems
- Program and troubleshoot Watlow HVAC controller
- Communicate on‑site installation status to project manager
- Work with and validate deliverables of ZEISS contractors & vendors
- Document system acceptance and provide installation report to project manager
- Prepare custom documentation for the operation of each unique system
- Engineering Changes:
- Identify and report necessary Engineering Changes
- Support Engineering team in the development and validation of engineering changes
- On‑Site Support:
- Train customer on system use
- Mechanical inclinations and skills preferred
- Verbal and written communication skills with an ability to create concise technical reports
- Mechanical detailing – reading blueprints, CAD drawings, etc.
- Excellent computer skill, including proficiency in MS Office
- Electrical systems troubleshooting experience desired
- Must be a team player across the organization
- Must have valid US driver license
- Willingness to travel to customer sites 50%-70% and work off‑schedule hours for up to 3 weeks at a time
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, such as keyboarding; conducting internet or other research; data entry, coding, matching and filing, and other similar tasks
