Job Description & How to Apply Below

Shape living spaces, one repair at a time At Ashley, we hire for attitude and teach the craft. Join our field team restoring furniture to like-new condition in customers’ homes and retail settings while growing skills across warehouse operations, product preparation and repair, material handling, equipment use, inventory practices, and quality assurance. You’ll be backed by competitive pay, excellent healthcare benefits, and a supportive culture that invests in your future—and your family’s.

A

day in this role

You start your route with a well-stocked, organized service vehicle and a plan to arrive on time for each customer visit. In-home, you assess damages, choose the most efficient repair path, and execute precise fixes—from rebuilding small corner breaks to solid-color paper/side refinishes and top-surface touchups on case goods and tables. You’ll also complete advanced replacement-part repairs when needed and document any situations where an on-site repair can’t be completed.

Between appointments, you keep tools maintained, note parts needs, and communicate recurring product issues. On select days, you collaborate with warehouse teammates on inspection-line touchups, damage identification, and surplus/loss tracking—and you may set up and use a spray booth when the job requires it.

What you’ll do
  • Independently perform repairs across all product types with minimal guidance.
  • Handle entry-level through advanced fixes, including solid-color paper/side refinishes and small corner rebuilds.
  • Conduct minor top-surface repairs on case pieces and tables; complete advanced replacement-part installations.
  • Set up and operate a spray booth when needed; use drills, impact drivers, and multi-tools safely and effectively.
  • Evaluate damaged items and determine repairability to like-new standards; accurately report non-repairable situations.
  • Inspect products, document recurring damages, and partner with warehouse personnel on minor touchups during inspections.
  • Maintain a clean repair shop area and a neat, well-supplied service vehicle; communicate tool, hardware, and parts needs.
  • Follow a planned route for on-time arrival; adhere to our driving policy, including annual MVR review requirements.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, use department products safely, and uphold our Core and Growth Values.
  • Support and mentor fellow technicians; complete periodic bench-testing evaluations to validate and grow your skills.
What you bring
  • High school diploma.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on furniture repair (upholstery, leather, wood refinishing) or similar materials work with color matching.
  • Comfort reading, writing, and speaking in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Self-directed with strong time management; able to learn in-house computer systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record per company guidelines.
  • Proficiency:
Forklift licensed (preferred) and proven furniture technician capabilities.
Physical and work environment
  • Visual acuity for close/distance/color/peripheral/depth and focus adjustments (reading reports, viewing screens).
  • Hear and understand speech; communicate clearly with customers and teammates.
  • Periods of seated work; frequent standing and walking.
  • Repetitive hand tasks (keyboarding, handwriting, POS/office systems, handheld tools/devices).
  • Bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, crouching; reaching at/above shoulder height.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. independently; more with assistance.
  • Work primarily in private homes and retail stores; occasionally in warehouse environments.
  • Potential exposure to oil, latex, spray paint, household chemicals, biological odors, and household dust; moderate office noise.
Our culture

We value safety, craftsmanship, and continuous learning. You’ll be part of a team that lives our Core and Growth Values in every customer interaction and every repair we complete.
