Job DescriptionComstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.
SUMMARY
:
Drives bus to transport students over specified routes according to the time schedule. We are seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.

AND A GREAT TEAM OF BUS DRIVERS!
COMSTOCK PARK PUBLIC SCHOOLS provides paid CDL Training! ($15.97 per hour):
- Starting pay is $18.64 per hour for the first 90 days.
- Regular Route Drivers board hired FOLLOWING 90-day probation
- Dental and Vision provided for employees working 20 or more hours per week.
- Split shift position; drivers must be available between 6:00-9:00 a.m. and 2:00-5:00 p.m.
SUB BUS DRIVERS:
- Paid CDL Training provided ($15.47 per hour) during training.
- FLEXIBILITY! May work mornings only, afternoons only, or both.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives a school bus safely and professionally.
- Performs and properly completes pre-trip inspections.
- Complies with all traffic ordinances and regulations.
- Complies with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation Complies with rules and regulations of the Comstock Park Drivers’ Handbook.
- Participates in on-site training.
- Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school buses.
- May start as a bus aide.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students while transporting them.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily by the end of the trial period.

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have an acceptable driving record and be able to pass the physical, including drug test. Continuing education classes must be completed as required to maintain licensing certification.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with a “P” and “S” endorsement. Must pass the State Skill Test and State Written Test. CPR and first aid certification preferred.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information one-to-one and in small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems in various situations.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers, parents and students. Ability to read and understand maps. Ability to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, and Department of Transportation physical. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
