Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer supports engineering functions related to Induction Power Supplies for customer orders and assigned projects with limited supervision. Responsibilities may include preparing electrical schematics, conducting power electronic circuit analysis, assisting with field service, and contributing to product testing and development.
Job Duties:
- Prepare electrical schematics for high-voltage, high-current induction heating and/or melting equipment using AutoCAD, based on customer specifications or hand-drawn schematics.
- Develop bills of material, sketches, reports, and instruction manuals.
- Perform circuit analysis for rectifier, inverter, tank resonance, and filter components.
- Design and develop power electronic systems including AC/DC and DC/AC converters
- Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and test reports
- Assist with debugging and testing of power electronics in the lab.
- Support Field Service or R&D personnel during equipment testing.
- Perform circuit simulation, analysis, and component selection for power and control systems
- Maintain strong computer proficiency, particularly with AutoCAD.
- Communicate effectively and demonstrate strong organizational, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams
- Collaborate with vendors.
- Ensure designs meet safety and regulatory standards (UL, CE, FCC, IEC)
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance
- Engage in customer communication.
- Assist with field service activities and training of less-experienced personnel.
- Support additional Engineering Department projects.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, Hi-pots, frequency generators).
- Experience with power electronics and analog circuit design
- Strong understanding of switching converter topologies including buck, boost, and bridge converters
- Familiarity with MOSFETs, IGBTs, transformers, inductors, and gate drive circuits
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read blueprints and understand electronic controls and circuits.
- Valid U.S. Passport or the ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in induction heating and melting equipment an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and CRM systems.
