Opportunity Summary

Join NAES as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician at the Lordstown Energy Center, a natural gas‑fired combined‑cycle power plant featuring Siemens SGT6‑8000H combustion turbines, advanced air‑cooled generators, and a Siemens SST6‑5000 condensing turbine.

Scope of Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain combined‑cycle power‑generating equipment with minimal guidance, ensuring compliance with plant procedures, technical manuals, and safe work practices.
  • Read and interpret meters, gauges, blueprints, and instrumentation to monitor temperature, vibration, pressure, flow, and water chemistry, and collect trending data for reliability decisions.
  • Participate in preventive, routine, and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, and heat exchangers, and perform failure analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support planned outages and projects by inspecting equipment, performing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, developing work packages, and coordinating contractor activities.
  • Set up and operate machine shop tools, rigging, and lifting equipment to ensure proper alignment, balance, and safe handling of heavy machinery and materials.
  • Install piping, conduit, and mechanical components to support system upgrades and modifications.
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and revising maintenance procedures, and maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and documentation of problems, repairs, and downtime.
  • Collaborate with team members to execute maintenance tasks, share technical knowledge, and provide training for new hires or refresher items as required.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, housekeeping, and plant cleanliness, and keep company tools in safe and proper condition.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including working scheduled shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends, while promoting safety, environmental compliance, and NAES values and culture.

All employees must remain mentally alert and work safely at all times. Employees must adhere to all safety warnings and posted signs while on company property and follow all NAES safety rules and procedures.

Working Relationships

The Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and receives general direction from plant management, coordinating with contractors and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) personnel.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Stands for extended periods, climbs stairs and ladders, works from elevated platforms and walkways, and routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. May enter confined spaces, crawl through narrow areas, and handle hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Requires use of protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, respiratory protection, and fall protection.

Fitness for Duty

All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, including a post‑offer physical examination, drug screening, and post‑employment random drug screening.

Work Schedule

Standard Monday‑to‑Friday day shift with occasional extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and on‑call status as needed.

Compensation

Base pay ranging from $46.50 to $48.50 per hour, plus an annual performance bonus.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Associate degree in Plant Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Process Technology, or related field is preferred; equivalent technical training or relevant industry/military experience is acceptable.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience in power‑generating facility maintenance, preferably as a power plant mechanic, millwright, or similar role.
  • Proficient in preventive and predictive maintenance of mechanical systems and balance‑of‑plant equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled in assembling, disassembling, adjusting, and aligning electrical and mechanical equipment, using precision measuring and fabrication tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret meters, gauges, and instrumentation for reliability data collection.
  • Team‑oriented, collaborating on maintenance tasks, supervising contractors, and maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for coordination and accurate reporting.
  • Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license.
