Job Description Who will you be working with?
At Schaefer Equipment, you will work independently or as part of a team to produce high‑quality work pieces. This role involves operating a variety of industrial machines—including hammers, presses, upsetters, bulldozers, shears, drills, and grinders—to complete assigned tasks. You will perform multiple duties throughout the manufacturing process to ensure parts are produced safely, accurately, and efficiently.
How will you make a difference?As a member of Schaefer Equipment, you will be responsible for operating a variety of assigned machines to produce parts according to established specifications and engineering drawings. This role requires reviewing and interpreting blueprints for parts and/or dies to ensure all components are manufactured within quality standards. You will verify that machined work pieces meet required specifications and may be asked to support special projects.
Whatdo we want to know about you?
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 3 months of related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to read and follow all quality process/work instructions.
- Must obey all safety rules and wear all proper Personal Protection Equipment
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers.
- Operate a variety of machines, hammers, presses, drills, and/or grinders.
- Ensure workpiece quality is at the required specifications
- Analyze blueprints of parts and/or dies
- Verify conformance of machines' work pieces to specifications
- Participate in special projects
- Follow instructions of group/crew leader
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
- Must be able to work safely in a heavy manufacturing work environment.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (Example: safety glasses, gloves, earplugs and steel‑toed boots)
- Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting, and using hand tools
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Additional InformationThe salary rate for this role is currently $20 per hour. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
