Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and production support machinery at Ajax Tocco Magnethermic. This role supports production operations by minimizing downtime, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience in an OEM or industrial manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple departments including assembly, weld, machine shop, test, warehouse, and fabrication.
Job Duties- Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and facility assets.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
- Install, maintain, and repair motors, pumps, conveyors, air systems, cranes, and industrial equipment.
- Support production departments with urgent repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
- Perform welding, fabrication, drilling, cutting, and basic machining as needed for repairs and modifications.
- Maintain facility systems including lighting, compressed air, plumbing, HVAC support, and electrical systems.
- Assist with equipment moves, machine installations, and facility improvement projects.
- Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled equipment and industrial controls when applicable.
- Coordinate with supervisors, build leads, engineering, and production personnel regarding equipment issues and repair priorities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and preventative maintenance documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas, tools, and work spaces.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime, efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.
- Assist in identifying spare parts requirements and maintaining maintenance inventory levels.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and after‑hours maintenance issues when required.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and all safety protocols.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Technical training, trade school, or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience in OEM manufacturing, heavy industrial, fabrication, or machine shop environments preferred.
