Position: Team Lead, Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg Telemetry – St. Joseph Warren Hospital

Shift Schedule

Mon‑Fri, no weekends or holidays. 40 hours per week: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

Job Summary

The Team Leader/Charge Nurse serves as a clinical leader in the Nursing Department to ensure that each patient receives quality, individualized care. The Team Leader assists with oversight of daily operations, development of efficient patient care activities, and coordination with the nurse manager, consults with other healthcare team members, and supervises assigned personnel.

Education
  • Current Ohio RN License
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • BSN preferred or to be obtained within 3 years
  • BLS certification
Experience
  • Certification in area of specialty within 2 years
  • Maintain BLS, ACLS, and PALs as required by unit competencies
  • Additional unit‑specific requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience
Qualifications
  • Certification in area of specialty within 2 years

  • Ability to analyze clinical, financial and social situations and identify problems and alternatives

Principal Job Accountabilities
  • Responsible for timely assignment and facilitation of admissions based on established milestones; anticipates and intervenes to assure milestone attainment, including rounding with physicians; participates in quality flow rounds (QFR).
  • Maintain knowledge of patient types and consult with case management for status updates.
  • Collaborate with case managers, social workers and staff nurses regarding discharge needs and barriers; support implementation of new processes to improve patient care and identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Model clinical excellence and demonstrate current technical and therapeutic skills; assist in maintaining staffing assignments using budgeted guidelines.
  • Assist with orientation, competency and continuing education for staff; enforce code of conduct and policies with effective communication; assist with recruitment and selection when requested.
  • Act as active participant in service recovery through investigation and intervention.
  • Perform chart audits for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate patient care with other departments.
  • Facilitate unit cleanliness, order and environmental rounds.
  • Evaluate care provided by other team members.
  • Facilitate purposeful rounding on patients and daily shift huddles.
  • Control overtime and supply costs.
