Quality Manager

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve quality systems for a metal manufacturing operation. The Quality Manager will own product and process quality, ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements, drive Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce variability and defects, and collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to meet customer requirements and business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.
• Plan and execute quality assurance and control activities across metal fabrication and manufacturing processes, including incoming inspection, in-process checks, and final product verification.
• Develop and monitor key quality metrics (e.g., PPM, DPMO, first-pass yield) and report performance trends to senior management with actionable improvement plans.
• Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (Kaizen, DMAIC) to reduce waste, variation, and cost while improving throughput and product reliability.
• Manage nonconformance, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and supplier quality escalations to ensure timely resolution and recurrence prevention.
• Oversee internal and external audits, maintain documentation and records, and lead efforts to achieve and retain ISO 9001 certification and other customer audits.
• Coach and develop quality team members and cross-functional staff on quality tools, inspection techniques, and problem-solving methods.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, R&D, and Purchasing to support new product introductions, process validations, and design-for-manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews.
• Implement and maintain appropriate measurement systems, calibration programs, and statistical process control (SPC) to ensure data accuracy and process capability.
• Manage supplier quality performance, conduct supplier audits, and work with suppliers to improve incoming product quality.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive quality management experience in industrial, metal fabrication, or heavy manufacturing environments.
• Proven knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and experience leading certification and surveillance audits.
• Hands-on experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools;
  Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical tools (SPC, capability analysis, root cause methods such as 8D, 5 Whys).
• Experience with inspection equipment and metrology relevant to metal parts (CMM, calipers, gauges) and managing calibration programs.
• Demonstrated leadership and team development skills with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Experience managing supplier quality, performing supplier audits, and implementing supplier improvement plans.
• Proficient with quality management software (QMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
