Sanitation Team Mate/Trainer

JOB SUMMARY
The Sanitation Team Mate/Trainer performs and coordinates facility-wide cleaning while serving as the lead trainer and subject matter expert for sanitation operations. This role ensures sanitation standards are consistently met, maintains supply inventory, and partners with leadership to support a clean, safe, and audit-ready environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Sanitation/Housekeeping Operations
* Perform and support all sanitation and housekeeping activities across production, warehouse, office, restroom, and common areas in accordance with established standards.
* Maintain facility cleanliness through floor care, waste removal, and surface sanitation.
* Clean and disinfect equipment, high-touch areas, and work spaces using approved processes and chemicals.
* Perform restroom sanitation, breakroom cleaning, and biohazard cleanup in accordance with established procedures.
* Safely handle and respond to blood borne pathogen incidents.
* Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners).
* Support sanitation of company-owned residential facilities as directed.
Training & Development
* Train and onboard Sanitation Team Mates through hands-on instruction, demonstrations, and job shadowing to ensure competency.
* Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and reinforcement of standards and expectations.
* Assist in developing and updating sanitation procedures, training materials, and checklists.
* Reinforce compliance with SQF, GMP, and company sanitation standards.
* Identify performance gaps and communicate training needs to leadership.
* Maintain flexibility to support training across shifts and schedules as needed.
Quality & Compliance
* Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with sanitation, food safety, SQF, and company standards.
* Maintain documentation of sanitation activities and training effectiveness.
* Support internal and external audits by maintaining sanitation readiness and accuracy of records.
Coordination & Support
* Support coordination of sanitation priorities and task assignments as directed by leadership.
* Monitor and communicate supply needs to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
* Assist in the organization, storage, and distribution of sanitation supplies.
* Report facility or maintenance concerns to appropriate departments.
* Document and communicate sanitation quality or performance issues identified through routine audits.
Continuous Improvement & Safety
* Model safe work practices and ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safety requirements.
* Identify and communicate opportunities to improve sanitation effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction and environmental sustainability efforts.
* Participate in inspections, audits, and improvement activities as needed.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Prior sanitation, housekeeping, or manufacturing cleaning experience preferred.
* Previous experience training, mentoring, or coaching others preferred.
* Working knowledge of sanitation processes, safety practices, and quality standards.
* Ability to read, understand, and clearly communicate procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Prolonged walking, standing, bending and lifting.
* Lifting of up to 45 lbs.
* Bending, crouching, stooping to reach areas to be cleaned.
* Lifting and pulling of equipment or supplies.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when required.
VACCINATION RECOMMENDATIONS
* Optional but highly recommended:
Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), Typhoid Fever Polio.
