2nd Shift Machine Operator

The 2nd Shift Machine Operator will be responsible for the correct set-up and operation of Large CNC or Manual Mills to produce parts efficiently and effectively.

• Able to follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
• Load and unload heavy raw materials and finished parts, utilizing overhead cranes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions to set-up machine according to specifications and operate successfully, selecting appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds.
• Perform setups of large work pieces, choosing the correcting cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
• Correctly use micrometers and calipers to read measurements and verify that all machined details are produced in a manner that meets router specifications.
• Maintain accurate job logs, routers, and related documentation.
• Monitor and maintain proper cleanliness of machine and work areas.
• Possess a keen attention to detail, able to identify and resolve maintenance, product, or operations issues.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Technical degree in machining preferred.

• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
• Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Experience with common inspection tools (calipers, tape measure, micrometers, etc.).
• Able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
• Able to work independently.

Works in a manufacturing environment and is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. The employee will be required to wear eye, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties. May on a frequent basis squat, climb, push/pull objects, lift up to 25 lbs., and use hands/fingers for grasping and reaching. May on an occasional basis bend at the waist;

reach above the shoulder; turn or twist body; lift up to 50 lbs.; carry up to 35 lbs.; and use hands/fingers for fine manipulation. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday – Friday, 10-hour days Monday – Thursday. 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules. Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.
