Job Description
The Secondary Art Teacher is responsible for teaching multiple levels of visual arts and design in both two and three dimensions in a dynamic and engaging learning environment where all students can achieve academic success.
Responsibilities- Implement lessons that align with National Core Arts Standards and the Rhode Island Department of Education Arts Curriculum Framework
- Use diverse instructional strategies and technology to meet student needs and enhance engagement
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, use data to inform instruction, and maintain accurate records
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment with clear rules and effective management strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues on unit planning, professional learning communities, and interdisciplinary projects
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to support student learning
- Provide individualized support and differentiation for students with special needs and English language learners
- Encourage growth mindset, promote social-emotional learning, and foster positive student relationships
- Adhere to school policies, participate in events and conferences, and pursue continuous professional growth
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Valid RI teaching certification for the appropriate grade level and subject area
- Awareness in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and state curriculum standards
- Effective classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and assessment
- Commitment to continuous professional development and educational equity
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students of color, multilingual learners, and students with diverse learning needs
- Ability to also teach performing arts (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
