Responsibilities
  • Provide a quality instructional program for students.
  • Complete teaching duties necessary to the district’s educational program.
  • Cause students to actively participate and be successful in the learning process.
  • Cause students to acquire the knowledge and skills to gather, analyze, and apply information and ideas.
  • Cause students to acquire the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively within and beyond the classroom.
  • Cause students to acquire the knowledge and skills to recognize and solve problems.
  • Cause students to acquire the knowledge and skills to make decisions and act as responsible members of society.
  • Use various forms of assessment to monitor and manage student learning.
  • Use ongoing assessments to monitor the effectiveness of instruction.
  • Provide continuous feedback to students and families.
  • Assist students in developing self‑assessment skills.
  • Align assessments with the goals, objectives, and instructional strategies of the district curriculum guides.
  • Use assessment techniques appropriate to the varied characteristics and developmental needs of students.
  • Demonstrate appropriate preparation for instruction.
  • Choose and implement appropriate methodology and varied instructional strategies addressing the diversity of learners.
  • Create a positive learning environment.
  • Effectively manage student behaviors.
  • Communicate and interact in a professional manner with the school community.
  • Communicate appropriately with students, parents, community, and staff.
  • Engage in appropriate interpersonal relationships with students, parents, community, and staff.
  • Keep current on instructional knowledge and seek and explore changes in teacher behaviors that improve student performance.
  • Engage in professional development activities consistent with the goals and objectives of the building, district, and state.
  • Engage in professional growth.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations of the building and district.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
  • Collaborate in the development and/or implementation of the district’s vision, mission, and goals.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (exceptions related to certification).
  • Missouri teaching certificate in area of assignment.
  • Successful completion of Missouri Teacher Competency Exam, if applicable; other experience commensurate with assignment.
Terms of Employment

A standard teaching contract is 178 days; extended or part-time contracts are prorated. Compensation is according to the teacher salary schedule as established annually by the Board of Education. All other employee benefits are according to the total FTE of employment for the individual.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated according to board policies and the Warrensburg R‑VI School District adopted model of Performance Based Teacher Evaluation.
