Responsibilities- Assist the special services teacher to whom assigned and work with students assigned to that teacher.
- Program operation: prepare materials, provide services, accommodate individual differences, assist students in completing assignments, help students move about the building, demonstrate knowledge working with disabled populations, use time effectively, communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Classroom management: assist in organizing classroom to promote learning, demonstrate knowledge working with students with behavior problems, follow classroom management procedures set by the teacher.
- Interpersonal relationships: demonstrate positive relationships with students, patients of staff, and parents; exhibit patience, respect, and understanding for students.
- Professional responsibilities: participate in professional growth activities, demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm toward work, follow district policies and procedures, follow guidelines developed by the teacher, conduct oneself as a representative of the school, complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by the administrator/coordinator.
- 60 college hours
- Passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment
- 20-hour HR Substitute Certificate Course
- Prefer experience working with disabled populations
A paraprofessional is employed for 7 hours a day during the 175 days students are in session. Compensation is according to the salary schedule set for non‑certified employees as established annually by the Board of Education. All other employee benefits are according to the total full‑time equivalent of employment for the individual.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated according to board policies.
