This position is the first line of defense in aiding students in creating polished and professional application materials and have career conversations during the Walk-In Studio Experience (W.I.S.E Hours) that includes: resume and cover letter assistance, interview preparation and coaching, Linked In and Handshake assistance, life design exploration, and job and internship search. Student employees will lead, prepare, and execute faculty and student organization presentations and promote the Career and Life Design Center.
The position will also welcome and communicate with all in-person and telephone constituents (staff, faculty, alumni, current students, employers, and administration) at the front desk of the center. See Duties section for more details.
- Peer support to the UNIV 3000:
Career Readiness Course through preparation, integration of activities, and engagement/support for the students in the classroom. - Peer support to the UNIV 3100:
Life Design through preparation, integration of activities, and engagement/support for the students in the classroom. - Peer support to the UNIV 1400:
University Foundations through preparation, integration of activities, and engagement/support for the students in the classroom. - Co-host the Mule Mindset podcast by editing, creating content and promoting through the Career & Life Design Center Instagram.
- Assist with the spring semester THRIVE Career Readiness Workshops
- Assist with curriculum development as needed.
- Assist with faculty presentation development and campus partnership events as needed.
- Serve on the WISE/PCS committee.
- Assist with budget tasks
- Assist with Graduate Follow-Up (GFS) calling in the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Manage and distribute Student Organization presentations.
- Assist with the upkeep of the C&LDC Faculty Resource Hub as needed
- Participate in various office committees and campus partnerships.
- Approve jobs and employers on Handshake
- Manage WISE check-in and appointments using the Handshake database
- Manage the main careers email account
- Promote the Career and Life Design Center by attending and working semesterly events
- Help UCM students get connected, integrated, and engaged with their career readiness and life design
- Enrollment in UCM degree program
- Presentation and public speaking skills
- Basic editing and punctuation skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Experience with the Google platform (calendar, email, etc)
- Critical and analytical skills
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Research experience, excellent computer skills, eye for detail, self-motivated
- Ability to make connections in both interpersonal settings and online spaces

- Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00, 8-12 hours total
