Visiting Assistant Professor of English

The Department of English at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for a one-year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor of English for the academic year . Faculty in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Central Missouri support the University's mission of providing a high-quality education and are committed to the success of their students.

Examples of duties include:

  • Providing instruction to students enrolled in the Department's general-education program, teaching both composition and literature courses in in-person and online modalities.
  • Teaching in the Department's programs entails effective delivery of instruction, being available to meet students outside the classroom during office hours and tutorials, and timely and fair evaluation and feedback of student progress.
  • Complying with all departmental, college, and University standards and regulations and contributing to cultivating a collegial atmosphere when interacting with other University faculty and staff.

Typical qualifications include:

  • A PhD (or ABD) in English or a related field is required.
  • Experience teaching composition and literature classes at the college level is strongly preferred, as is experience teaching both online and in-person.

Full-time staff & 12-month faculty benefits-eligible position:
