Reporting to and taking direction from the Director of IT Service Management, the Technology Budget Manager provides critical accounting and budget support to support operations for the university’s technology department. This position assists in the management of the technology budgets; the formulation, compilation, and preparation of the annual technology budget, including compiling data and generating documents to support budget requests; monitoring budget accounts and allocations and processing of expenditures, including daily involvement in disbursements, record keeping, and expenditures analysis;

coordinate procurement process and compliance reviews for enterprise-wide technology purchases; resolving problems with payments and records of transactions through contact with vendors, procurement, and the finance department; act as liaison among the teams within the technology department, procurement department, and the finance department; compile data and generate and/or prepare reports as required, for financial status reports, annual technology reports, etc.;

formulates and initiates new procedures as required for administration of budget. Under the supervision of the Director of IT Service Management and in coordination with the Associate Vice President of Information Systems & CIO, this position is responsible for managing procurement activities throughout the university’s technology teams, including monitoring allocations and expenditures, contacting vendors and sources, preparing and processing requisitions and invoices for payment;

resolving problems with payments; and initiating new procedures as required. This position provides essential support for every area of the technology department and works closely with various leaders to coordinate these duties. This position also assists the CIO in preparing written material and performs other duties as assigned. Key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Manage all financial records for the IT department and assist the CIO on administrative, financial, and fiscal matters.
  • Purchase technology services supplies and equipment and maintain inventory of all furnishings and equipment for these departments.
  • Assist with lifecycle management for various equipment and services.
  • Responsible for accounting and processing related to charges for technology related services.
  • Provide backup coverage as the Office Manager for the Administrative Offices for the CIO in conjunction with the Administrative Coordinator.
Budget and Resource Management: 55%
  • Manage all financial records for the university’s technology department and assist the CIO on administrative, financial and fiscal matters.
  • Manage all financial records for the university’s technology department, which includes various sub-departments.
  • Maintains spreadsheets of daily balances of all budgetary accounts for the university’s technology department.
  • Reconciles all spreadsheets with financial reports in the university’s accounting system.
  • Provides monthly budget reports and other reports as requested by the technology department leadership.
  • Provide monthly student wage reconciliation reports to student supervisors and technology department leadership.
  • Processes technology procurement requests.
  • In coordination with the Administrator coordinator, process procurement and travel card charges within the technology department through the university’s accounting system; prepare necessary paperwork for the Accounts Payable Office for payment of procurement and travel charges.
  • Monitor technology services and departmental budgets totaling over $10+ million
  • Assists in coordinating activities or special projects within the university’s technology department and other areas of the University.
