Clinical Application Analyst

The Clinical Application Analyst is responsible for application and integration of information technology in the healthcare setting. This position will serve as a liaison between the IT department and operations to align system design with operational processes. This includes data collection, workflow analysis, system configuration, testing, and support. Participates in application deployment and procedure documentation. This position supports all hospital clinical areas to include but not limited to inpatient and outpatient services.

This position performs analytical and reporting activities to support the clinical, regulatory, and business functions of a department or division. This position is accountable for generating and preparing reports, performing analysis, tracking, and submitting data, and related activities in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential functions include creating project and operational support documentation, maintaining database information, preparing and distributing business object reports, assisting department staff, reviewing and analyzing user needs, performing all functions according to established policies, providing recognized knowledge of product features, utilizing system analysis techniques, designing, developing, analyzing, testing, and training modifications, managing stakeholder expectations, identifying project issues and risks, collaborating effectively with colleagues, monitoring system effectiveness, developing and maintaining test scripts, reviewing and testing changes, participating in disaster recovery initiatives, supporting the training team, providing on-site support during go-lives and system upgrades, providing 24/7 support, resolving or triaging support calls, maintaining regular and predictable attendance, and performing other essential duties as assigned.

Education/experience/skill requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a bachelor's degree in nursing, information management, computer science, healthcare administration or equivalent or 8+ years' experience in Information Technology preferred, a master's degree or certification in health informatics preferred, a background or a strong knowledge of these departments using the respective applications as well as the healthcare organization as a whole, two years' Meditech Expanse experience preferred, not required, current knowledge of regulatory standards and the impact on business operations, obtaining and maintaining system certifications, if applicable, equivalent proven work experience and technical training and some college will be considered, experience in the information technology areas, such as personal software packages, generating reports and presenting information in a written or spreadsheet format, knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field respective to the system functions, excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and department staff, self-motivation and the ability to work within the established policies, procedures, and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic, English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions, ability to follow verbal directions and instructions to perform work, ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a variety of tasks and activities in a timely and effective manner, strong research and data-gathering abilities, along with the capability to interpret data to develop and implement policies, procedures, or solutions within a healthcare setting, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Physical/mental requirements include the ability to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day, the ability to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard, continuously working under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines, continuously utilizing manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing, frequently standing, walking, sitting and utilizing eye/hand coordination and color definition, occasionally reaching above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs, and occasionally walking on uneven surfaces.
