Part‑Time School Nurse – Job – Warrensburg Middle School – Opened 5/17/2026
Qualifications- Registered Professional Nurse (R.N.) OR Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) under direct supervision of an R.N.
- Graduated from an accredited nursing school, licensed to practice in Missouri. Current license must be on file.
- Preferred experience in public school, public health, or related fields, computer use and strong human‑relations skills.
- Apply nursing theory to manage common acute and chronic health conditions of children and adolescents.
- Manage and document injuries, abuse, neglect, pregnancy, substance abuse, poverty and racism impacts, and environmental health issues.
- Implement district policies for students who become ill or injured at school, including notifying the district nurse.
- Render first aid and nursing care as outlined in the District Health Services Manual.
- Collect and maintain continuous health and development status information to provide nursing assessment and priority action.
- Collaborate with the District School Nurse to establish I.H.P. (Individual Health Plan) and I.E.P. for students with health needs.
- Assist students and staff with health maintenance and wellness promotion.
- Arrange and assist in faculty and administrator training on health topics.
- Act as liaison among administrators, faculty, parents, and community agencies.
- Coordinate physical needs planning for handicapped students and make referrals for health concerns.
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow State and district confidentiality protocols.
- Support communicable disease control per State provisions: universal precautions, exclusion procedures, isolations, outbreak reporting.
- Administer medication and treatment per district policy.
- Interpret and maintain immunization records, ensuring compliance with MO regulations.
- Plan and facilitate screening programs, document results, and provide referrals.
- Diligently manage school health facility, supplies, and equipment; maintain inventory.
- Provide health education, counseling, and instructional support in classroom settings.
- Participate in policy development, program evaluation, and professional duties as assigned.
- Establish supportive relationships with students having special health care needs.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and community organizations to address health impacts on learning.
- Communicate key health issues to faculty and administrators.
- Demonstrate positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
- Follow district policies and procedures.
- Adhere to Staff Ethics and confidentiality.
- Commit to professional growth and continuing education.
- Participate in professional, educational, health, and nursing organizations.
- Promote professional accountability and behavior.
The School Health Nurse is employed for 188 days each school term based on the annual school calendar for certificated teachers. Salary is set annually by the Board of Education. Benefits match those of full‑time employees and work‑related expenses are reimbursed monthly at district rates.
EvaluationPerformance is evaluated by the district health services coordinator in consultation with the building administrator, following board policies and established procedures for support staff.
