Campus Grounds Maintenance
Maintain campus lawns, to include:
- Mow, edge, trim, irrigate, and fertilize campus lawns.
- Prepare areas and sow seed and/or lay sod.
- Operate lawn maintenance equipment.
- Remove debris and litter from assigned areas.
- Under direction, maintain and install trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds.
- Prune, irrigate, weed, and fertilize.
- Remove snow and ice.
- Operate snow removal equipment.
Remove debris and litter from assigned areas, to include:
- Remove debris and litter from hard surface and lawn areas.
- Empty trash receptacles.
- Remove leaves and landscape debris.
- Remove sand from sidewalks and parking areas after periods of snow and ice.
Under direction, prepare and maintain flowerbeds. Weed, irrigate, and fertilize.
Under direction, maintain and install trees and shrubs, to include: prune, irrigate, weed, and fertilize.
Remove snow and ice under the direction of a snow team leader. Operate and/or utilize truck mounted plow, sidewalk plow, shovel, and/or ice scraper, chemical melter, or sand.
Maintain surface drainage by keeping drains clear of debris during periods of heavy rain and run off melting snow and ice.
Typical QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: Six (6) months experience in grounds maintenance, landscape/lawn maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture.
Supplemental InformationSpecial Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
- Ability to operate landscape-related equipment and vehicle-mounted snow removal equipment.
- Ability to recognize disease and insect problems on landscape material and bring them to the attention of the supervisor.
- Ability to work with seeds, fertilizers, dust, grasses, and plant materials.
- General working knowledge of turf care, woody ornaments, and annual flowers preferred.
- Experience operating specialized grounds maintenance equipment preferred.
Physical/Environmental Factors:
- Lifting (Weight) - 50lbs
- Exposure to Horticultural/Agricultural Chemicals
Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime available
