Dispatcher, Security

Responsibilities

• Function as the department Dispatcher (50% weight):
  • Receives emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone, radio, and in person.
  • Monitors radio communication on multiple frequencies and responds promptly to radio traffic.
  • Coordinates and dispatches on and off campus Law Enforcement, Fire, Safety, Emergency aid personnel, and other resources to respond to calls and alarms.
  • Utilizes Computer-Assisted Dispatch system (CAD) to take initial information for police reports, assign police officers, track progress of calls, and document actions taken during incidents.
  • Operates a multiple line telephone system including Telephony (TTY).
  • Dispatches Safe Team, Parking Enforcement, and other personnel as requested and/or needed.
• Serves as the dispatch Office Manager (20% weight):
  • Maintains knowledge of department and university policy and procedures.
  • Issues keys to authorized personnel, manages key check-in/check-out procedures, and maintains records.
  • Prepares lost and recovered property reports.
  • Acts as the point of contact for receiving and disseminating information to both Law Enforcement agencies and the public.
  • Acts as receptionist for all three divisions of Public Safety and University inquiries.
  • Monitors security and fire alarm systems.
  • Provides directions to law enforcement personnel and the general public to university locations.
  • Coordinates with vendors and on campus resources to complete work orders and maintain equipment.
  • Monitors the campus video security system.
• Serve as Information and Data Retrieval Specialist (20% weight):
  • Inputs and retrieves information into Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) which links to the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and the International Justice and Public Safety Network (NLETS).
  • Stays up-to-date with technology changes and uses computer programs and data sources to retrieve information in emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Function as a Mass Communications Operator (10% weight):
  • Initiates emergency siren and alerting systems in buildings and around campus as required.
  • Sends mass text messages and emails as required.

High School diploma or equivalent.

1 year police dispatch experience preferred.

• MULES certification preferred.

• Lifting (weight) - 20 lbs.
• Sitting for long periods of time.
