Utility Locators locate and mark underground utilities to help prevent damage during excavation and construction activities.
- Locate and mark underground cables, pipes, and other utilities using locating equipment, GPS, maps, blueprints, and other available resources.
- Read and interpret utility maps, prints, drawings, and work orders.
- Document completed locates, site conditions, and utility information using tablets or paper records.
- Communicate with contractors, property owners, customers, and the public as needed.
- Follow 811 procedures, company policies, and all applicable safety requirements.
- Inspect and maintain locating equipment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and communicate professionally.
- Comfortable using tablets, GPS devices, and locating equipment.
- Previous utility locating, construction, surveying, or related field experience.
- Familiarity with 811 procedures and applicable dig laws.
