Description
Under the supervisor of the supervising manager, the Programmer III plays a role in troubleshooting issues with software and hardware applications assigned functional areas of responsibility. Understanding the functional processes of the assigned areas is key to the success of this role.
Responsibilities- Computer programs and scripts (Java, PL/SQL, Cold fusion, HTML, XML, PHP) to support complex business processes as requested.
- Program languages and techniques utilized by UCM Office of Technology Application Systems.
- A program that adheres to UCM Office of Technology programming standards.
- Contribute to team efforts by balancing workday among multiple projects.
- Collaborates with supervisor and functional clients to assess goals, needs, objectives, and requirements for support.
- Assist supervisor with new systems and maintenance of existing systems.
- Assist with analyzing, designing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting assigned software.
- Assists with maintaining full technical knowledge of applications supporting assigned administrative areas.
- Understanding of business functions of assigned areas.
- Works with supervisor and/or manager to determine project requirements.
- Works with end‑user to determine the need and functionality of the software in assigned areas.
- Learn new computer applications and programming techniques and/or languages.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field required.
- Education may be substituted for experience or experience may be substituted for education based on the following: AA = 2 years experience; BA/BS = 4 years experience; MA/MS = 6 years experience.
- Three years total experience coding computer software applications using scripted language. (SQL, PL/SQL)
- Experience using relational databases, Java, PHP, HTML, Cold fusion, and other currently installed products preferred.
- Experience working directly with users.
