New Grad RN Resident – Surgery

About This Role

The New Grad RN Resident in Surgery at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital is an entry-level position designed for recent nursing graduates. This role involves providing patient care and assisting surgeons during procedures in a supportive and technologically advanced environment.

• Assist surgeons during procedures and set up instrumentation.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care.
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate corrective actions.
• Seek supervision and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.

• Education:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Experience:
  • New grad or less than one year RN work experience
  • Less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience if moving from non-inpatient to acute setting

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
