Assistant City Clerk/ Municipal Court Clerk
The City of Warrenton, Georgia is accepting applications from June 1st to June 26th for the position of Assistant City Clerk/Municipal Court Clerk with a start date of August 1, 2026. This role performs a variety of administrative, clerical, customer service, financial, and court‑related duties in support of City Hall operations and the Municipal Court.
Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the City Clerk, the Assistant City Clerk/Municipal Court Clerk assists with daily municipal administration, records management, court operations, financial processing, and public service functions.
Assistant City Clerk Duties- Assist with the daily operations of City Hall.
- Provide customer service to residents, businesses, and visitors in person, by email, and by telephone.
- Prepare, maintain, and file official city records, bills, reports, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes as needed.
- Prepare, maintain, and file all business licenses, building permits, fines, public record requests, and zoning ordinances; send delinquent letters as necessary.
- Assist with agenda, minutes, and fill in for the City Clerk at Council Meetings as needed.
- Assist with Department Head Reports.
- Process payroll and assist with state and federal taxes.
- Manage the Martin Luther Jr King Park, including rentals, deposits, refunds, and assistance to the Recreation Department.
- Drop daily deposits and run errands as needed.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, and financial record‑keeping.
- Accept payments for utilities and general fund.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and records.
- Assist with elections, special projects, and other administrative assignments as needed.
- Coordinate and maintain Municipal Court schedules, dockets, and case files.
- Receive and process citations, warrants, tickets, fines, and court payments.
- Enter court data into applicable computer systems accurately and timely.
- Prepare court documents, notices, subpoenas, and reports.
- Serve as liaison between the court, law enforcement, attorneys, and the public.
- Attend all Municipal Court sessions and record court proceedings.
- Balance court funds and prepare deposits and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with state laws, court procedures, and records retention requirements.
- Maintain confidential court records and sensitive legal documents.
- Assist the Police Department as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in clerical, administrative, or bookkeeping work.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, de‑escalation, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast‑paced office environment.
- Experience working in municipal government or court administration.
- Knowledge of Georgia municipal court procedures and records management.
- Experience with accounting, utility billing, or government software systems.
Salary will start at $14.00 per hour. A job performance evaluation will be held after a 90‑day probation period, at which time a pay increase will be considered. Benefits will begin after the 90‑day probation period and include paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement, life insurance, health insurance, dental and vision coverage.
