Definition

The City of , and Recreation, is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Scanner in a temporary capacity, which limits employees to 1040 hours per year. This position serves as one of the first points of contact for customers visiting the in east .

The pay range: starting at $8.55/ hour

Work schedule:

4-hour (sometimes more) blocks during select Firstenburg hours

Mon – Thurs 5:30am – 10pm (shifts range from 11:00am – 9:00pm)

Friday 5:30am – 9pm (shifts range from 11:00am – 9:00pm)

Saturday 8am – 8pm (shifts range from 9:30am – 6:00pm)

Sunday Noon – 6pm (shifts range from 12:00pm – 5:30pm)

The candidate for this position must be able to:

• Ensure that persons passing beyond the scanning position are pass holders of Firstenburg, have paid the daily drop-in fee, are registered for a specific class, or members of Silver Sneakers and if not, provide excellent customer service in directing them to the appropriate area;
• Provide assistance on the telephone and in person to customers;
• Read and write at a level necessary for job performance;
• Ensure a safe environment; and respond quickly and effectively in an emergency situation;
• Provide a high level of customer service at all times; project and maintain a positive image on behalf of the city of with those contacted in the course of work;
• Provide general information to customers on City policies and procedures; refer calls to appropriate department and/or City personnel;
• Enter customer information on computers and other related information;
• Keep accurate attendance records and any other required data;
• Perform various tasks such as: checking out recreation equipment, assisting in recovery of lost and found items, checking in patrons for swim lessons, ensuring patrons have the appropriate swim band to help maintain capacity levels for the pool, and monitoring proper facility usage;
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

The ideal candidate would be someone with customer service experience. Training in basic customer relations techniques including effective handling of upset customers and customer follow through is desirable.
