Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Location: Warrenton, VA

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team of professionals, working collaboratively to support students' learning and academic growth within educational settings. In-Person Role
Requirements- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Current Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education - Deaf and Hard of Hearing PreK-12, or eligibility to obtain Virginia licensure.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and communication methods for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including spoken language, ASL, total communication, or other appropriate communication modalities.
- Provide direct special education services to students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing in accordance with IEPs.
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans that support language, communication, academic achievement, and self-advocacy.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and related service providers.
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, eligibility meetings, and progress reviews.
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to ensure communication access.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and complete required reports.
- Support students in the use of hearing technology and classroom accommodations.
- Provide consultation and training to school staff regarding strategies for supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and educational planning.
- Maintain compliance with district policies and federal and state special education regulations.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in special education, deaf or hard of hearing, or related field.
- Valid Virginia Teacher Licensure, along with an endorsement of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching.
- Experience working with school-aged students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is preferred.
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education procedures.
- Familiarity with hearing technology, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/DM systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with American Sign Language (ASL), Total Communication, Listening and Spoken Language, or other communication approaches as appropriate for students.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and district onboarding requirements.
