Fauquier County is currently seekingan
Environmental Specialist to join the Zoning and Development Services teamwithinthe Department of Community Development.
The primary function of thispositionis performingmandatory erosion and sediment control and stormwater inspections on commercial sites, subdivisions, single-familyhomesand land disturbancepermitprojects.
Responsibilities will includereviewingdevelopment plans for compliance with erosion and sediment control requirements;providingtechnicalassistanceto the general public, engineers, builders,land developers and various County and State agencies in respect to erosion and sediment control issues; and conducting on-site inspections of E&S controls and stormwater facilities during construction.
The successful applicant musthave general knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management regulations along with the ability to read and interpret site plans, constructionplansand development plans.
Field experience is highly desired.
Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
Minimum requirements include aBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and/or Natural Resources or equivalent experience.
Possession of Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Inspection and Plan Reviewcertificationsarerequiredfrom the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).If certifications are not current at the time of employment, all certifications must be obtained within six (6) months of employee start date.
