Mechanical Engineering Specialist, Senior
Location:
Warrenton, VA
Clearance:
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required to apply.
- Provide engineering review, coordination, and oversight for operations, maintenance, repair, and construction work.
- Coordinate activities with trade shops, prioritize work, review projects, inspect equipment, and oversee work orders, service orders, and projects.
- Plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases, coordinating engineers and technical staff.
- Manage project design or construction efforts, including scheduling, funding, day‑to‑day oversight, contractor performance, and integration with field personnel.
- Evaluate, validate, and manage project change requests and provide official weekly project status reports.
- Assist the client’s contracting officer (CO) and contracting officer’s technical representative (COTR) with acquisition planning, execution, and administration.
- Conduct pre‑bid and pre‑construction site visits with the COTR, support invoice processing for payment, and prepare and monitor project schedules and budgets.
- Provide technical guidance on contracting and construction issues, recommend construction documents for approval, and oversee follow‑on maintenance programs.
- Optimize performance, cost, and schedule; ensure project objectives are achieved on schedule and at lowest cost compatible with user requirements.
- Ensure timely input of all data, comments, and documentation into the MAXIMO software project management tool.
- Integrate all systems (information technology, telephone, security, electrical, HVAC, plumbing).
- 10+ years of experience as a facilities professional.
- 5+ years of experience in a field such as high voltage power, mechanical systems, fire protection, or construction.
- Experience with the implementation or execution of design documents.
- Experience reviewing design documentation, identifying deficiencies, inaccuracies, and non‑compliance issues.
- Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
- Ability to evaluate conditions and draft engineering memos providing sound engineering guidance consistent with industry best practices and all Federal, State, and local codes.
- Ability to review and perform engineering calculations.
- TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience managing project design or construction efforts, including schedule, funding, day‑to‑day oversight.
- Experience with MAXIMO.
- Experience with new and existing building systems, site surveys, and calculations.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, International Building Code, and pertinent NFPA publications related to mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of CAD systems such as AutoCAD or Revit.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate activities with trade shops (prioritization, review, inspection).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
