This position provides an opportunity for experienced aviation electrical and avionics professionals to continue serving the aviation community by providing technical expertise, maintenance instruction, troubleshooting assistance, mentorship, and advisory support to international partner-nation aviation organizations.
Position Summary
The Aircraft Electrician & Avionics Advisor (15F or 15N) serves as a technical aviation maintenance advisor responsible for providing electrical and avionics instruction, troubleshooting assistance, mentorship, and technical guidance to partner-nation aviation maintenance personnel.
The advisor will provide subject matter expertise in aircraft electrical systems, avionics systems, wiring, electrical power generation and distribution, communication and navigation systems, flight instrumentation, aircraft mission systems, electronic components, troubleshooting, inspections, repair, component replacement, and maintenance documentation
.
Working directly alongside international military aviation maintenance organizations, the advisor will assist partner-nation personnel in developing safe, effective, and sustainable aircraft electrical and avionics maintenance capabilities while promoting sound military aviation maintenance practices, technical standards, safety procedures, and quality-control disciplines.
Primary Responsibilities- Serve as an Aircraft Electrician or Avionics Advisor to FMS partner nations.
- Provide technical instruction and mentorship to international aviation maintenance personnel responsible for aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
- Provide classroom and hands-on instruction covering aircraft electrical systems, avionics systems, components, wiring, connectors, circuit protection, instrumentation, communication, navigation, and mission systems.
- Train partner-nation maintenance personnel in proper aircraft electrical and avionics maintenance practices and procedures.
- Assist maintenance personnel with identifying, troubleshooting, isolating, and correcting electrical and avionics discrepancies.
- Troubleshoot aircraft electrical circuits, wiring, connectors, electrical power systems, and associated components.
- Provide instruction on aircraft electrical power generation, distribution, control, and protection systems.
- Provide instruction on avionics system operation, component interfaces, system integration, and applicable maintenance requirements.
- Assist with inspection, removal, installation, replacement, repair, and operational testing of electrical and avionics components as applicable to the assigned aircraft.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in identifying intermittent electrical and avionics faults using appropriate technical procedures and test equipment.
- Provide instruction on the proper use of electrical and avionics test equipment, diagnostic equipment, and specialized maintenance tools.
- Assist with continuity checks, electrical measurements, circuit testing, fault isolation, and system operational checks.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in interpreting and applying applicable technical manuals, maintenance publications, wiring diagrams, schematics, work packages, engineering instructions, and technical data.
- Provide instruction and mentorship on aircraft forms, maintenance documentation, inspection records, and technical reporting requirements.
- Assist in identifying recurring electrical and avionics maintenance issues and developing corrective actions.
- Advise maintenance leadership on electrical and avionics-related aircraft readiness, maintenance effectiveness, technical issues, and operational concerns.
- Support maintenance training, qualification, progression, and continuation training requirements.
- Provide instruction on aviation maintenance safety, electrical safety, battery safety, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, hazardous material procedures, and maintenance risk management.
- Assist with aircraft inspections, maintenance evaluations, electrical system checks, avionics assessments, and aircraft readiness evaluations as directed by program leadership.
