Job Summary
The Banking Center Specialist is responsible for providing superior customer service meeting a variety of customers’ needs. The role involves teller transactions, account opening duties, consumer lending, mortgage loan duties, and additional administrative support.
Key Responsibilities- Greets and welcomes customers and potential customers, directing them to appropriate bank staff.
- Oversees and maintains the waiting area, stocking necessary brochures and other items.
- Answers incoming phone calls and transfers to appropriate bank staff if unable to assist.
- Maintains knowledge of banking products and services and answers customer questions.
- Identifies and pursues opportunities to promote or refer new banking products and services.
- Conducts customers’ transactional needs, including accepting deposits, loan payments, verifying cash and endorsements, and cashing checks within limits.
- Opens or assists with opening consumer and commercial customer accounts.
- Balances cash drawer and teller cash recycler (TCR) following bank policy.
- Prepares monies for shipment to the Federal Reserve Bank and orders monies as necessary.
- Performs consumer lending duties, including evaluating applications, collecting information and documentation, authorizing or recommending approvals, processing, and closing, ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures.
- Assists with mortgage loans, including collecting information and documentation, processing draws, preparing documents in accordance with regulations, policies, and secondary market guidelines.
- Performs clerical and administrative duties as needed.
- Ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential documents.
- Processes and distributes incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail.
- Maintains regular, reliable attendance.
- Stays current, maintains knowledge of, and complies with all products, services, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains organized files and a neat and orderly work area, securing all negotiable and confidential records.
- Protects the bank's and customers' information; information must be kept in absolute confidence.
- Displays a positive, cooperative spirit; professionalism; and a responsible attitude toward staff and customers.
- Leads by example while being a team player.
- Participates in bank-sponsored and community/civic events as scheduled.
- Represents the bank professionally and courteously in person or by telephone.
- Pursues personal development opportunities to improve knowledge related to the position, compliance, and the bank in general.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to all audiences and manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with PC skills including MS Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience working directly with the public.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical/trade school (preferred).
- Notary or willingness to obtain.
- Registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry as a mortgage loan originator or ability to become registered under the SAFE Act.
- Regularly sits and uses hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequently talks or hears.
- Occasionally stands, walks, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, or crouches.
- Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Primarily performed in an office setting where the noise level is usually moderate.
- Use of standard office equipment such as computers, calculator, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
This is a non-exempt position working Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. with overtime as necessary.
TravelThis position will not routinely involve travel. Limited travel for training purposes and visits to customers’ locations as necessary.
