Fauquier County is looking for our next Assistant Director of Human Resources to join our team.
This position assists the Director with the overall administration of the County's unified human resources program and provides leadership and supervision to assigned departmental staff.
What You'll Do- Assist with planning, directing, managing and administering a comprehensive human resources program
- Supervise, direct and evaluate assigned staff
- Develop, revise and recommend personnel policies and procedures
- Assess current HR programs and functions for effectiveness and implement changes as needed
- Provide guidance to department managers and constitutional officers regarding staffing and recruitment policies and procedures
- Interpret and ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures
- Perform investigations and administer the grievance process
- Assist with department budget preparation, administration and expenditure monitoring
- Help develop long and short-term departmental plans, goals and objectives
- Oversee HR programs, policy development and interpretation, HRIS management, record maintenance and special projects
- Analyze data, identify trends and prepare studies and reports
- Provide HR information, assistance and guidance to employees, managers, applicants, County and school officials, the public and others
- Serve as Director of Human Resources when required
- Perform related tasks as required
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in personnel, public administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Considerable human resources generalist experience
- Thorough knowledge of public personnel administration
- Thorough knowledge of municipal government and/or school division organization and functions
- Familiarity with investigations and grievance processes preferred
- Experience with MUNIS HRIS software is a plus
- IPMA, SPHR or PHR certification preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
We're looking for someone with considerable HR generalist experience and strong knowledge of public personnel administration. IPMA, SPHR or PHR certification is preferred, and MUNIS HRIS experience is a plus.
