Desktop/Technical Support Technician

Location:

Warrenton, VA – 100% ON SITE (NO EXCEPTIONS!)

Duration: 6 months with possibility of an extension.

Role: DVS Tech Support Analyst
2. Based at 6951 Vint Hill Parkway, Warrenton, VA 20187. Some travel may be required. Initial interview will be web‑based with a follow‑up in‑person interview at a later date.

Travel:
Up to 20% travel to support a new site in Warrenton, VA and up to 10% local travel to the Hampton Roads area to support the local Benefits offices. Reimbursement for mileage, lodging, and other travel expenses will be provided. Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation are required.

Candidate must have McAfee Anti‑Virus Software, Adobe Acrobat, and other commercial business software installed.

The role supports the Department of Veterans Services’ Puller Veterans Care Center (PVCC), a medical facility hosting approximately 200 IT devices (desktops, laptops, phones, printers, mobile phones). The technician will assist DVS IT Management with integration, management, and support of the Information Technology program for the PVCC and some remote Veterans Benefits sites.

Responsibilities include:

• Setup, configuration, and maintenance of PC desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and networking.
• Setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of Android and Apple mobile devices.
• Support and troubleshoot Ethernet LAN/WAN environments, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
• Install, administer, troubleshoot, and train on e‑mail applications (Google Suite, PST files, calendaring, distribution lists).
• Basic IT inventory control, ticketing system, and reporting.
• Analog and digital phone configuration and troubleshooting.
• Resolve network and infrastructure issues.
• Set up, configure, manage and troubleshoot routers, switches, and wireless access points.
• Resolve issues related to desktop and laptop PC hardware/software, mobile devices, and telephone systems.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and report incidents promptly.
• Track end‑user support activities through the ticketing system.
• Monitor network and computer systems performance.
• Coach and manage daily duties of the contracted on‑site engineer.
• Own reliable transportation and have travel expenses reimbursed directly by the agency.

• Proficient in installing, troubleshooting, and administering Windows OS, Microsoft O365, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome.
• Document system changes, update training and system documentation, and create new procedures to solve issues.
• Clean driving record and dependable transportation for occasional light travel to satellite offices.
• Good understanding of network and IT security.
• Professional, courteous attitude with customers, team members, and vendors; clear and effective communication.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork orientation.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to assess/resolve problems timely.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to create clear documentation on technical issues and solutions.
