Clinical Supervisor III – Job Code: SU1303

UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper seeks a Registered Nurse Clinical Supervisor to lead a team of 20 or more clinical FTEs (RN, LPN, medical assistants, unlicensed personnel). The role includes supervisory responsibilities and patient care support in accordance with nursing scope of practice.

Job Summary
  • Supports implementation & success of organizational goals in partnership with the Clinic Administrator.
  • Orchestrates clinical environment for efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Provides patient care support as per nursing scope of practice across all age populations.
Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Record and relay patient information, symptoms, and concerns to provider or RN for triage and care planning.
    • Assist patients with therapeutic regimens, ensuring age‑appropriate interventions.
    • Reinforce patient/family teaching plans and provide education on health needs.
    • Administer tasks, treatments, and medications per validated competencies.
  • Teamwork
    • Organize and prioritize daily work assignments to support patient needs and operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team, recognizing time‑sensitive issues.
  • Nursing Practice
    • Practice within regulations governing nursing in Virginia.
    • Engage in continuous learning to stay current with ambulatory care advancements.
    • Maintain clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards for specific clinical areas.
    • Contribute to development of practice‑guiding resources (policies, procedures, guidelines, protocol orders).
Qualifications
  • Education: 4‑Year/Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years nursing experience and 2 years supervisory/lead experience.
  • Licensure: RN licensure in applicable state preferred.
  • Skills: BLS; general and role‑specific competency testing; strong oral & written communication; leadership & problem‑solving; computer proficiency;
    Leader Education and training completion.
Physical Demands

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: constant standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. Safe handling equipment used for weight ‘>35 lbs.’ Requires proficient communication, auditory and visual skills, attention to detail, and legible writing.

Other Requirements
  • May require use of safety equipment (e.g., HEPA mask) for infection prevention.
  • On‑call responsibilities as directed.
  • Travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
