Lead grade crews safely and efficiently while delivering precise site grading through strong leadership, technical expertise, and a productive jobsite culture.

  • Key Responsibilities and Description of Duties:

    Safety & Compliance

    • Identify and proactively address unsafe working conditions before incidents occur
    • Enforce safety policies by ensuring proper use of PPE and compliance with all safety procedures
    • Advanced safety training with strong knowledge of excavation and trench safety
    • Ability to safely shut down active utility lines during emergency situations when required
    • Proper use of confined space tools, safety devices, and procedures
    • Strong commitment to enforcing safety standards and jobsite best practices
    • Ability to set a positive tone daily and foster a respectful, safety-first culture

    Leadership & Crew Management

    • Lead grade crew operations while setting the standard for safety, quality, and productivity
    • Lead by example through hands-on involvement and adherence to company standards
    • Maintain a calm, professional demeanor when resolving issues or working under pressure
    • Encourage employee growth by supporting skill development and sound decision-making
    • Maintain a positive jobsite atmosphere that promotes teamwork and accountability
    • Effectively communicate with crew members, management, inspectors, and other jobsite personnel
    • Conduct difficult or corrective conversations in a professional and respectful manner

    Planning, Productivity & Reporting

    • Plan and clearly communicate daily work activities, goals, and expectations to crew members
    • Forecast and schedule labor, equipment, and material needs in advance
    • Identify work activities that fall outside of contract scope and communicate accordingly
    • Complete daily reports accurately and on time, including detailed descriptions of the work performed
    • Consistently document work with photos and upload them with daily timecards

    Technical & Field Skills

    • Ability to read and interpret site plans, grades, and survey stakeout
    • Ability to shoot grades using a level and properly use grade rods
    • Experience laying out grading, pipe, and structures from survey stakeout
    • Proficiency with on-site GPS technology for layout and grading operations
