Principal Structural Engineer (MS/PhD)

We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer for our Civil & Structural Engineering practice in Chicago or Warrenville, IL. The role includes leading analytical and computer problem-solving, performing experimental field investigations and diagnostic surveys, and developing and maintaining client relations. Assignments will require the ability to gather information from and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry.

• Lead business generation and client development efforts
• Inspection, analysis, and determination of root causes of structural/building envelope performance failures
• Conduct projects and supervise others in analytical and computer problem solving
• Lead field investigations and diagnostic surveys
• Prepare and present technical reports and complex engineering assessments
• Continue professional development to maintain professional expertise
• Provide expert testimony where appropriate

• M.S./Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
• Significant business development experience with proven track record
• Licensure as a Structural Engineer (SE) in the State of Illinois
• Ability to attract projects, manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals
• Minimum of 10 years of technical engineering and project management experience post-graduation
• Outstanding professional reputation with an existing client base
• Experience providing expert testimony in a dispute resolution setting
• Significant experience in construction claims, dispute resolution, and litigation services
• Experience drafting/reviewing analysis, reports, and presentations
• Effective leadership skills with ability to positively interact with professionals, technical staff, and administrative staff
• Outstanding professional reputation and record of publications
• Strong client base in similar market areas
• A dedication to quality and accuracy
