Senior Managing Engineer – Thermal Sciences
We are currently seeking a Senior Manager/Senior Managing Engineer with expertise in Mechanical Plant Systems Design, EPC Technical Services, Maintenance, and Commissioning, as well as Combustion Equipment for our Thermal Sciences Practice in Warrenville, IL;
Chicago, IL;
Houston, TX; or Atlanta, GA.
As a leader in our Thermal Sciences group, you will work on the industry’s most complex engineering challenges both domestically and internationally. Your work will involve safety management, failure analysis, and root‑cause investigations for complex issues in industrial manufacturing, power generation, chemical, oil, and gas production, LNG, and new plant construction projects. You will be part of bespoke, multidisciplinary teams, often utilizing staff from multiple geographically diverse offices.
Responsibilities- Conduct failure analysis and root‑cause investigations.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses.
- Plan and execute testing programs.
- Prepare written reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with experts in other technical disciplines.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
- Engage in project management and build client relationships.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Gather information from and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business, and industry.
- A Ph.D., M.S., or M.Eng in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering with a practical and theoretical understanding of combustion, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant industry experience in plant engineering design, commissioning, and maintenance; process safety and risk assessment; and/or in‑plant organization team leadership.
- Professional Engineering license preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding skills and proven track record conducting incident investigations and hazard assessments via any recognized methodology.
- Ability to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business, and industry.
