Hydraulic Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Hydraulic Engineer to perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for both existing and proposed conditions. The successful candidate will support bridge and culvert hydraulics, open-channel flow analysis, and assist with roadway drainage and storm sewer design. This role involves preparing drainage reports, technical memos, and calculations using industry-standard modeling tools. The Hydraulic Engineer will collaborate with transportation and drainage teams and support permitting and agency coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for existing and proposed conditions.
- Support bridge and culvert hydraulics and open-channel flow analysis.
- Assist with roadway drainage and storm sewer design.
- Prepare drainage reports, technical memos, and calculations.
- Use industry-standard modeling tools.
- Collaborate with transportation and drainage teams.
- Support permitting and agency coordination.
- Work under senior drainage engineers.
Essential
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a preference for Water Resources emphasis.
- 2–5 years of experience in water resources, drainage, or hydraulics-related engineering.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic and hydrologic analysis.
- Proficiency with HEC-RAS, TR-20, and TR-55.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- EIT certification required or actively pursuing.
- Experience supporting transportation-related projects such as bridges, roadways, and drainage systems.
- Familiarity with DOT or municipal design standards.
- Experience preparing drainage reports and technical documentation.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience with Microstation and AutoCAD.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Work Environment:
The company offers a hybrid work model, with new hires expected to work in the office three days per week initially. Experienced staff may work remotely two to three days per week. The office is located in Warrenville, IL, with another office in Champaign, IL. The organizational structure is flat, led by 7-8 shareholder/principals who mentor junior staff. The Hydraulic Engineer will primarily work on bridge projects over waterways and will be part of a team of six to eight drainage engineers.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $78000.00 - $90000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
