Position

Registered Nurse – School Program (Part‑Time, 20 hrs/wk)

Location & Schedule

Will be assigned to two schools. Work:
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:45 am–3:45 pm (no weekends or holidays).

Pay

Hourly: $24.75 – $38.36 (based on experience and expertise).

Start Date

Wednesday, August 5th (anticipated).

Responsibilities
  • Provide care appropriate to the age of students served, including physical and psychological needs.
  • Assume responsibility for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or sudden illness.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date health records on all students according to state compliance guidelines and school policy.
  • Administer and monitor medications and/or prescribed medical treatment given to any student while attending school.
  • Identify and refer students with medical, dental, and healthcare needs; consult with parents, school personnel, physicians, and other agencies as needed.
  • Advise on exclusion and readmission of students with infectious diseases.
  • Provide health and wellness programs for students as requested by staff.
  • Provide services and advise staff on student health needs.
  • Make home visits to observe students and families as needed.
  • Conduct school health screenings, including vision and hearing; make appropriate referrals.
  • Follow and maintain school health policy and district guidelines.
  • Advise on modification of an educational program to meet the health needs of identified students.
  • Evaluate environmental safety and provide a safe environment based on age and developmental status.
  • Attend meetings and conferences regarding student health services and curriculum.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Current Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
