Trainer Position
The Trainer is responsible for implementing the Implementation Strategy (IS) as it relates to skills training and acquisition for the individual. Must also teach new vocational skills by training individuals on a variety of light industrial tasks, as well as implement positive support plans and record observations. This role will also have Substitute Van Driver responsibilities which will require candidates to pass a PACE physical and drug screen.
Must be capable of speaking English clearly and fluently to communicate with staff, families, and individuals. Must be capable of writing English in a clear, concise, grammatically correct, and free of spelling errors.
Must respond appropriately to individual behavioral problems. Requires sufficient strength, agility, and sensory acuity to be alert to client behavioral emergencies and to implement effectively with adults weighing 150 lbs. or more, confrontation avoidance, escape-evasion and emergency transport procedures from agency approved Safety Care and Behavior Management techniques.
Must act in a professional manner which reflects positively on herself or himself and Little Friends, Inc. /Spectrum Vocational Services. This includes demonstrating high commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction for all internal and external customers of Little Friends, Inc/Spectrum Vocational Services.
Is aware of and follows the policies and procedures of Little Friends, Inc. /Spectrum Vocational Services.
Is required to complete all training and re-certifications as per Little Friends, Inc, Spectrum Vocational Services as well as the Department of Human Services.
Works cooperatively with Program Managers/QIDP and other members of the Support Team to develop the Personal Plan for each individual in the unit as needed. This includes but is not limited to:
- Attending discovery plan meetings, personal plan meetings and other meetings held to discuss the individual's progress and participate as a cooperative and well-informed part of the team.
- Thoroughly, accurately, and legibly preparing data and reports needed to document the individual's progress and to provide team members with information necessary to revise and update the Personal Plan and the IS. This includes but is not limited to strengths, preferences, needs and behavioral data.
- Reviewing the IS's current outcomes and proposed outcomes with the individual prior to the meeting and obtaining the individual's input on what he/she would like to work on during the upcoming review period.
- Thoroughly, accurately, and legibly completing the necessary reports, assessments, and services for each individual prior to the Annual meeting as applicable.
- Support each individual's development of self-confidence and worth as a productive person by positively reinforcing socially appropriate behaviors.
Implements the IS for each individual as outlined. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Working with each individual to formulate strategies that are realistic, observable, and measurable, meaningful, age-appropriate and which relate to the accomplishment of his/her outcomes.
- Assisting the individual to improve his/her working abilities and tolerances and to learn new vocational skills by training and supervising him/her on subcontract, clerical, janitorial and stock work assignments.
- Supporting each individual's development of self-confidence and worth as a productive person by positively reinforcing socially appropriate behaviors.
- Ensuring that each individual is productively occupied during activity time when work is not available or if they choose not to work.
- Documenting progress on each outcome that is his/her responsibility. This entails tracking daily any training or observation carried out relative to the outcomes and consistently legibly recording monthly updates of the outcomes which include accurate and thorough data, pertinent comments and date with signature and title.
- Recording hours spent at Spectrum including work hours, activity hours, and community hours.
Implements individual Positive Support Plans or Behavioral Procedures as written including accurate and timely data collection. Must also work with the Behavioral Analyst by providing written and verbal feedback on individual behavioral changes and helping to formulate practical and behaviorally sound strategies to address behavior problems.
Maintains desk and work unit in an orderly fashion which allows for substitute staff to readily find and use all necessary materials, to include but not limited to file of individual positive support plans, working files of individual IS outcomes, individual's client payroll sheets, emergency binder with unit list and emergency concerns.
Ensures safety of assigned individuals throughout the workday. To include but not limited to:
- Ensuring that Emergency Binder is kept in the unit with an up-to-date individual list and any information needed to safely evacuate individuals in an emergency.
