About the Role:

The Unit Clerk plays a critical role in the smooth operation of a healthcare unit by managing administrative and clerical tasks that support medical staff and enhance patient care. This position serves as the communication hub between patients, healthcare providers, and other departments, ensuring accurate and timely information flow. The Unit Clerk is responsible for maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and coordinating admissions and discharges, which directly impacts the efficiency and quality of care delivered.

By handling various documentation and logistical duties, the Unit Clerk allows clinical staff to focus more on patient care. Ultimately, this role contributes to a well-organized, responsive, and patient-centered healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or administrative support role preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records (EHR) software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Unit Clerk or Medical Secretary.
  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
