Louis Allis is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team. If you enjoy hands-on machining, working from prints and samples, and producing precision parts rather than running the same production job all day, we'd like to talk with you.

You will work in a clean, team-oriented shop machining and repairing components used in industrial electric motors and mechanical assemblies.

Electric motor experience is a plus, but [not required we can teach the motor-specific work to an experienced machinist].

What You'll Do
  • Set up and operate manual lathes, horizontal mills, vertical mills, drill presses, and other machine tools
  • Manufacture and repair precision parts from drawings, blueprints, and samples
  • Hold close tolerances and verify your work using appropriate measuring equipment
  • Turn and undercut electric motor commutators
  • Use saws, grinders, sanders, files, and other shop equipment as needed
  • Inspect your work and maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail
  • Perform basic machine lubrication and maintenance
  • Work alongside other experienced machinists and members of our motor repair team
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of machining/shop experience
  • Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools
  • Ability to read and machine parts from drawings and blueprints
  • Ability to work accurately to close tolerances
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Electric motor repair or motor-shop experience is a plus
  • Trade school training is a plus
  • Ability to safely handle and secure heavy components
  • Commitment to safe work practices
