General

Summary:

The Special Education Teacher provides students educational instruction that will foster and accelerate their intellectual, physical, social, and career development in accordance with district policies and procedures.

• Maintains clear and up-to-date written lesson plans and can provide evidence of preparation upon request.
• Active participant in Professional Learning Communities to improve school quality.
• Conducts assigned activities in accordance with state, federal, and Board policies.
• Collects data from formative and summative assessments to increase student learning and creates a conducive learning environment appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Uses planning time effectively and follows designed working hours for assigned duties.
• Employs diverse instructional techniques and utilizes technology and instructional media aligned with student needs.
• Assists administration in implementing student life policies, develops classroom rules, and maintains order fairly.
• Collaborates with principal on performance evaluations per district procedures.
• Supports strategies that enhance performance on local, state, and federal assessments.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds or more.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by superintendent, designee, or principal.
• Maintains confidentiality per policy and procedure manual.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree (minimum).
• Certification/License:
  Valid Indiana Teaching License.
• Experience:
  
  Demonstrated success as a highly effective classroom teacher.
• Knowledge:
  Understanding of collaborative learning teams, effective instructional practices, standards, formative and summative assessments, and data dissemination.
