General

Summary:

In the absence of a regular classroom teacher, help students learn subject matter and/or skills required for scheduled lessons and provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms.

Essential Functions:

• Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom
• Take attendance in accordance with school procedures
• Indicate to students the basic expectations for behavior in the class in accordance with WCS policies
• Know emergency evacuation routes for classroom assigned
• Know procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems
• May perform duties usually required of absent teachers such as bus duty, hall monitoring or other duties assigned by building principal

Qualifications:

• Substitute Teaching Permit (application instructions available at )
• Age 18+
• High School Diploma
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Spanish proficiency will be assessed

Contract:

5 days per week; split between Eisenhower and Leesburg Elementary
