Position
Description:
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer II to join the Audio Video Division in Warsaw, IN. The role is responsible for the design, development, and transition to production of consumer directed, aesthetically-pleasing, innovative, cost-effective and reproducible designs of projection screens, easels, and accessories for the audio-visual industry. It participates on cross‑functional development teams to ensure high‑integrity designs through effective use of analytical tools and techniques.
What Will You Do?- Design aesthetically pleasing, functional and manufacturable customer‑driven products.
- Assist Marketing team members by providing leadership, guidance and education to internal and external customers on product features, advantages and benefits stemming from the designs.
- Effectively interface with engineers, designers, technicians, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to meet project commitments.
- Influence and communicate between internal departments to manage projects.
- Participate in developing project plans, test plans, write test reports; assist with creating, maintaining, and revising product project plans and effectively communicating project deadlines.
- Create product documentation: solid modeling of components and assemblies, technical drawings, BOMs and ECOs.
- Participate in and/or lead cross‑functional teams for associated product lines.
- Provide new product training to Marketing, Customer Service, Sales and others.
- Provide technical product support to customers.
- Expand knowledge of industry, competitors and customers through trade‑show attendance and customer interaction to enhance product capabilities.
- Represent Company at trade shows, trade association and client meetings to promote products and services.
- Understand workplace hazards and proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries, Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives and investigations.

Required Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field with a minimum of two years experience as a mechanical design engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- 3D CAD work experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures and drawings; mechanical aptitude.
- Effective project planning and execution skills; ability to multi‑task and manage several projects at once.
- Flexible facilitator between internal departments across brands and regions.
- High level of enthusiasm, strong integrity, keen customer service, excellent organizational skills and collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Desire to work in team environment as project leader or individual contributor.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent follow‑through.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to function in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law.
- Professionalism.
- Computer literate (MS Office, e‑mail, etc.).
- Experience in consumer‑driven product design.
- Experience in Project Management.
- DFMEA and FEA experience.
- Experience with Solid Works.
- Sheet metal experience.
- Plastic design experience.
- Aluminum extrusion knowledge.
- Electrical or controls experience.
- Experience working with multiple disciplines, including electrical and mechanical design, layout, manufacturing, external suppliers and service providers.
- UL, TUV and/or CE experience.
- Experience with MS Project timelines.
- Experience with SAP.
- Employees may need to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and coordinate fingers for keyboard use.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for product testing and trade‑show purposes.
- Combination of general office and machine shop environment.
- Ground travel to other company facilities within the local metropolitan area may be required.
- Long‑distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed 10% travel.
